Our Build-Ready Project

250+ Swimmers & 16 Para-Athletes need a place to call home.

Help us build the clubhouse our Rotorua community has always needed.

Te Arawa Swimming Club trains at the Rotorua Aquatic Centre, drawing members from Rotorua, the wider Bay of Plenty, the Central Plateau, and South Waikato. Despite this reach,  the Club currently has no facilities to manaaki our whānau, swimmers, coaches and koeke while our team puts in the hard yards at hours at the pool. Our only physical asset at the pool is a lockbox containing a small amount of training equipment and we think our whānau deserve better.  Not only our Club will benefit from this facility, it will be the only accessible facility we can share with other community group users who utilise the Rotorua Aquatic Centre.

A clubhouse is more than a building. It is where culture is built, belonging is felt, and athletes understand they are part of something larger than themselves.  The facility will provide the permanent home from which our Club can grow, retain members, and build the community that keeps people in sport for life.

Every member of our Club, from our youngest learn to swim participants to our masters athletes, is completely exposed to the elements at all times. Rotorua’s climate presents genuine challenges year-round.

Our swimmers sit on benches, on the ground, or in their cars. Coaches brief and debrief sessions poolside in all weather. Parents wait with no cover. For our para-athletes, and special olympians, they have no place to retreat away from the over-stimulating environment.
